Kipon EOS MFT Autofocus adapter
« on: January 02, 2016, 06:47:15 pm »

mine came from Adorama for $228 with V2.5 loaded and pretty much works as advertised with usably fast autofocus (AFS only)

tested with GX7 and Canon 35mm f2 IS, 100L, 70-200 f4 IS (&1.4x) and 100-400ii.  IS works with all but the 100-400ii (hopefully we'll there will be a future fix).

using autofocus and Imatest resolution target and software, resolution at optimum aperture is probably sensor limited.  at 200mm eff the maximum resolution of the 70-200 matches the Pany 35-100 f2.8 but at f5.6 instead of f4.  the 35 and 100 are a bit sharper at f4 with surprisingly (to me) very little loss at f8 and (not surprising) sharp corners at all apertures.  the 100-400 resolution is pretty much the same as the 70-200 (as it is on Canon cameras).

the only disappointment is loss of sharpness wide open with the 1.4x - on the other hand there is virtually no loss stopped down to f8

my reason for buying the adapter is to fill the high IQ long lens gap left by Pany & Oly with the 70-200 f4 (which actually weighs less than the Oly 40-150 non-IS) - looks like mission accomplished.

the 35 f2 potentially has some use for low light with it's great IS, and for landscape stitching (if I ever happen to carry the lens with the GX7) and the 200mm eff macro potentially has some use)

for normal use, i'll still rely on the Pany 7-14, 12-35 f2.8, and 35-100 f4
