Luminous Landscape Style Sheet (CSS)
« on: April 21, 2006, 11:34:19 pm »

I just sent MR an e-mail suggesting that titles on Luminous Landscape web-pages are rather difficult --for me--to read as the DARK GREEN of the titles is very close in tone to the BLACK  backgounds. I then suggested changing the titles' (<H3>) color to a lighter, brighter green, e.g.: "46aa46".
(As I'm on a Windows machine, I'm aware this is no problem for Mac users.)
Have others had trouble reading titles?

With all due respect, I believe you may be experiencing problems with your eyesight or with the calibration of your monitor. This has nothing to do with a Windows Operating System. I use Windows also and I have had absolutely no problem whatsoever seeing everything very clearly on this website.

I second Mark's post. Others have complained about the black background in the past, but as far as I'm concerned its a not an issue. It might well pay to check your monitor calibration, I can't find any dark green titles on the site.

You may want to check this out:

It isn't a PC vs Mac problem.

This request may well be due to a vision or even a calibration problem, but as we get older some color combinations simply become harder to read than others. It wouldn't hurt anybody to try to be considerate with website color palettes. Having said that, I have no problem with Michael's choices but there are many other sites that are difficult if not impossible to read. FWIW

From a usability design standpoint, Dark Green isn't the best choice for a black background (nor is light-grey text, but I digress). I got word a wile ago there is a re-design in the works but I don't know when that will happen or how it'll look.

If it really bugs you, you can use FireFox, and the extension GreaseMonkeywhich will let you modify the colors (and layout if you want) of any individual site you visit. You need to know HTML, CSS and I believe some Javascritpt to take advantage of it though.

Or, again with Firefox you can use the EditCSS plugin and load up a custom CSS file each time you visit.
