LX1--CS2 Camera Raw
« on: June 04, 2006, 07:20:02 pm »

I just bought the LX1 and was very excited about it until I found out that using Photoshop CS (which I am) does not support Camera Raw 3.2, which supports the LX1. At this moment, I have no intention to switch to Photoshop CS2 but in the same time, do not want to spend extra money on a raw coversion software.

my question, therefore, is whether there is a way for me to covert my raw files that I took on LX1 with the current software I have? I do use Photoshop CS and Capture One DB on my PowerBook G4.

Thank you all very much in advance.

You might try Pixmantec's Raw Shooter Essentials 2006, which is a free download from www.pixmantec.com. I just checked their website, and the LX1 is listed as supported. Of course they would like you to upgrade to their Premium version for $60., but the "essentials" may suit you just fine. I have used a previous version of RS Essentials and liked it. I eventually upgraded to Premium, even though I use Capture One for most of my work.

Do read the instructions: I found it somewhat counterintuitive at first (but so are Capture One and Adobe Capture Raw), but it is easy to use once you understand it.

RSE and RSP are Windows (2000 and XP) only programs.

Have you considered the Lightroom beta?

Thank you very much for your emails.  I have been told just now that I can download the Adobe DNG converter, which can covert my Raw files.  I can then use Camera Raw 2.4 in CS to open the file.  Anyone tried this?

Yes, the DNG converter works very well.
