Thanks for the info - in the video, there is a section where they mention fine art and there is a borderless print shown. Perhaps optimistic to think the two were related ;-)
Also, in the manual there is mention that it is possible to over-ride the border settings (with attendant warnings)
The optimist in me hopes that these warnings will once again prove to be the designers being overly cautious and covering themselves.
Anyway, it gives me a lot to explore when one turns up ;-)
With my past iPF5000 and current 5100, my work-around for the convoluted Canon feed source/media type lockouts is, for "fine art" papers, to simply use the "Premium matte paper" setting for both my proofing RR Polar Matte paper and display Innova 315 fine art papers. This allows 3mm borders all 'round for cut sheets of all sizes and roll feed borderless, loosing a big co. For satin/pearl PK papers, including Barytas, I've standardized on Special #4 - accepted in all paths with 3mm borders allowed. No problem with head strikes.
Something equivalent will probably work in the 1000. The decision to omit roll feed is confounding, and the 80ml inks @ $60/cart is 50% more/ml expensive than the 5100/6X00 130ml carts @ $80. Bad move, Canon!
