Just a snap while I was out the other week testing a M4/3 camera :)

Very nice landscape ! The purple really adds to the image. Any grad ND filter being used for the bright FG ?

Thanks.  Just a Lightroom grad filter as you've guessed - no filter kit with me at the time!

One extra interesting thing about this format is that on my screen I cannot see the whole image at once.

I have to scroll up and down. Which feels active, and I enjoy it.

It's a big beautiful photograph! Nice work!

Thanks. I say that because it wasn't on a tripod and I wasn't in a 'serious shot' frame of mind, plus the dinky camera. Makes me wonder what that means, though...

I think it means two things. One is you have good instincts on what makes a good photo, regardless of the gear or state of mind present. The second is that modern small cameras are capable of some very nice results.

It's a nice simple yet engaging shot. I too have to scroll through it which makes me picture two potential pretty nice square crops.

Thanks, Matt.  It was certainly a refreshing experience not lugging an SLR and not thinking about tripod positioning.  The quality is absolutely up there with APS-C stuff, so no worries there, not that it would make a difference anyway for 99 % of shots.

Not sure why people are reporting having to scroll through it - it's a thumbnail on my screen!  Don't think it would come across well with either the sky or ground cut out :/

It toggles big or small when I click on it so I can see it both ways.

Don't take my comment as saying you should have opted for a square crop, but just that if you did there are at least a couple of viable options.

It's fine :)  Crop ratio a bit squarer that I usually do (2:3) anyway, so that's another thing to get your head around.
