 >:(, I've got horizontal banding again on Museo Silver Rag rolls. I tried printing same exact file on 17x22 sheets and have no issues. And at first the roll was fine, then after about 20 feet, I ran into problem. The print head was replaced two weeks ago, as well as the cleaning unit, because of banding and other issue. And that worked for a weekend. Then I had the banding again and did head alignment and the remedied problem.

I have done nozzle checks. It's fine. I did print head alignment. It's fine. im using Image print RIP and Irene said that the solution is to either increase or decrease the media feed. My media setting is premium luster 260. Platen gap is set to standard. I tried experimenting and increased platen gap to wide, wider and widest. That didn't help.

I did have this problem with another thick paper, Moab Entrada.

Is anyone else printing on these rolls and having issues?
And I would appreciate any other solutions

Did you adjust the paper height for the thicker paper?

Convert 'mils' to 'mm' and chose next higher whole number.

Can you show a picture of the banding? Is it sharply defined or is it a faint kind of appearance?
What is the paper thickness you use?

In the first picture, which is black and white, the lines are very faint traveling left to right,,mostly visible in the center of the images..They are faint though in the picture..I used my Mac and Silver Rag. The lines appear less defined to me.

In the second image, the lines travel up and down,,also very faint, but more precise. This image was printed on Epson double weight mat using the techs computer and his software. These lines appear sharply defined to me

The third image is also BW on Silver Rag but the lines are traveling up and down. These lines appear less defined to me

The last image also shows the banding,,but its very light. If you view it separately it is more visible.

Sometimes I dont even see the banding, but then when staring at it..it shows up sort of resolving itself in front of me..

The direction is due orientation of my Iphone. Sorry!

When you say "horizontal banding" do you mean

a) lines are parallel to the direction of carriage movement (left to right), or

b) lines are parallel to the direction of paper movement (up and down)?

I can't tell from your pictures which direction the lines are occurring.  If the lines are up and down (parallel with paper movement), you could have an issue with carriage adjustments, not the head itself.

Sorry for the confusion. It is left to right horizontal banding the same direction as the print head moves.

What sw do you use to print. What size in pixels is the image and wgat size on papwr. What printer settings have you been using?
The images do not show the banding clearly. If they are vague and over the with of the paper it is the paper feed.

I'm using Image Print rip, with highest quality, dpi is 360. The printer is set to premium luster 260 as well as the rip. I used perfect resize to increase print to 40x60. But, the tech used a different paper, Epson double weight mat, with proper media settings and got the results pictured above. He used his software(not sure which one) It was just more evident and wider band on the Silver Rag but his produced thinner more defined bands. He measured and calibrated the media feed.

So Epson got billed for, and wasted 4 heads, when common sense should have indicated a media feed problem to the tech rep, from the very beginning. :o
Way to go Decision One !  ::)
