Weird. I still don't know what made it disappear in the first place.
If you click and drag the word "library" you'd turn it into a floating tool floating mostly off the screen.
Or if you click the down triangle in the upper right at the end of the bar that says "library" you can "close tool".
The degree to which you can customize Capture One is amazing - especially regarding using it both on small laptop screens and large (sometimes dual) monitors on desktops. However it can also confuse less experienced users.
One great "o crap button" is Window > Workpace > Default Workspace which resets all the tools/tabs/viewer options. That would have also fixed your problem.
