OK, I have tried the Neat Image noise reduction software and it works well at reducing noise, especially useful in ISO 800 images. (Frankly, the noise level in my IOS 400 RAW images is not that bad, even in low light situations.)
http://www.neatimage.com/howto.htmlThe Neat Image software is very versatile with numerous setting options, but you need to do a lot of experimenting to get just the right effect. Default settings are ok as a start.
The software is very, very slow with huge image files. Still, it does have a batch processing option. (You can find a Review of Neat Image at

I'll post a sample image on a Web page by Monday. With and without application of Neat Image.
