Focus on Imaging (UK gear show)

Surprised there was not any decent footage from a 5DII, you would think with all the hype Canon would of taken some along and something decent to watch it on, not a very small LCD 10ft in the air like they had, that was one of the reasons I went along, to see some 5DII video. And no new tilt shifts either on show.
No Leica or Rollei stands, thank goodness for the Sphereon VR to grab my intention, now if only I had £35K burning a hole!
Kodak had zero reference to the fact they have made a new slow fine grain emulsion.
And why do people turn up with cameras around there necks and the biggest lens they have? is there a prize for the best dressed gearhead or something I don't know about.

No doubt it was 80% wedding photographer related as usual...

(not that I minded so much in the past, I'm a wedding photog by profession).

Haven't got to Focus for 2 years now. It's useful for some stuff, albums, etc. For most of it reading through on the internet and visiting a pro dealership is going to tell you as much if not more and without the crowds.

I found it useful to see all the lighting gear up close, as I am in the market for some strobes this year.

Also I got to pester the Canon rep to get some spare batteries for the 5DII - everywhere has been sold out for months

I went there with a list of things I wanted to learn and got answers to them all.
Very useful and productive day.

Colour Confidence talked to me for ages about colour management (web gallery as well as printing).
Including firing up my laptop to illustrate the web gallery challenge.
Very useful - learned a lot.

Canon gave me contact details to talk to the right person about my dodgy lens.

Badgered Epson about my print quality problems, got my problem print printed and came away with a list of things to check.

Saw the Imagicam demo - pay-as-you-go looks like it could be an excellent option for my wedding photographer buddy.

Bumped into Welshot Imaging and was brought up to speed with their plans (been on a couple of excellent workshops they organised).
