Measure: Mamiya 645 film plane to mounting plate
« on: February 02, 2009, 06:23:59 am »

Hi,

On a recent travel to Shanghai, I spoke with a gentleman at Shen-Hao camera company. They current make a simple adapter for Hasselblad back to graflok, similar to this Canon one http://www.badgergraphic.com/store/cart.ph...tail&p=2859, except the back mounted only in landscape position (and per what I recall in their shop in Shanghai sold for a little over 500 rmb...). Focus using normal 4x5 groundglass. Thus a very simple solution for panoramic stitching using a digital back on a 4x5 camera...

It sounded as a possibility that they could make one for Mamiya 645 mount. Obvious I would be keen on such since cheap, light weight and small to tuck in camera bag (as compared to other sliding adapter with tiny non panoramic groundglasses and $$$ and bulk + weight on travels).

What the gentleman asked me for is if I could help them get the measure from film plane (= sensor plane) to the Mamiya 645 mounting plate. Can someone please help me get that info?

Obvious it needs to be very exact (which he understood), since else the depth of focus will not be right. If exact, it should work, simply... they have experience in this... also with their 612 and 617 adapters.

No guarantee for that this will succeed, but.. that measurement sounds as a first step in this attempt.

Much thanks!

Regards
Anders
