Keith Laban, RIP
« on: July 22, 2026, 05:17:41 pm »

It was with a heavy heart that I learned today of the passing, on Monday night, of our long-time friend, fellow contributor Keith Laban. His much-loved wife Viv was by his side.

A master of colour, his work, whether in the world of travel - or even of the very near found object - was always imbued with an emotional sense that unfailingly took it somewhere beyond simply the graphic.

He inspired me personally, sometimes with a verbal kick in the ass but, more often than not, with a simple comment of approval. That kind of input can be invaluable.

He will be missed.

R.I.P. Keith; you ran a damned good race.

Oh, my God! What happened?

His heart eventually failed him after quite a long battle over the years. He'd been undergoing very good medical treatment, but there is only so much that the body can stand. In a way, he approached such problems much as did Ann, my wife: he almost never dwelled upon them publicly or made a huge thing about them.

Really sorry to hear about this sad news… I didn't know him in person but through many exchanges he was a real a gentleman.
Another great loss.

Didn't know him personally, but I greatly admired the photos he posted in this forum.  His Moroccan street scenes worked on so many levels: they captured ephemeral moments in the street, they were beautifully composed, and the colors were rich and evocative.

Very very sad to hear this news. We communicated often through private messaging but never managed to arrange ‘that lunch’ as his travel was severely limited as a consequence of his health issues. He’ll be sorely missed. My condolences to his wife, Vivienne, and family.

That is indeed very sad. How old was he?

My sentiments exactly.
