64" Epson printer P20000 problem
« on: July 12, 2025, 07:02:03 pm »

I am having a problem trying to print on 64" canvas.  This is the first time I have purchased 64" canvas.  Up to now I just used 60".  I am printing an image that is 60.5"x60.5" using Photoshop.  The printer head doesn't travel past 61" and is cutting off the image. I tried every trick I know.  I reduced the resolution of the image which usually fixes truncation problems.  I changed the custom size to 66"x66 and other stuff.  None of these tricks are working.  The printer prints 61".  Could this be a driver problem?  Is there a Photoshop setting or something else causing this?  I need to get this canvas printed and wrapped for a large corporate job.  As you can see in the photo I attached, the blue border is 2.25" all around but on the left side of the image, I am only getting 1" of blue.  Thank you for your time.

I am a little confused. You said you set the custom page size to 66x66? That will not work .
What is your image size plus your borders? If your image is 60.5 and your borders are part of that you should be ok. If your 2.25” borders are in addition to 60.5 that will not work either as you would be at 65”
Let’s start over. What is your total image including borders? My s80 64” does not print borderless at 64 and doubt yours does either. Which probably means 62” is as wide as you can print if you want 1” of white on both sides.
Last thing I can think of is your custom page size set at 64x64”?

I tried 66x66 just to try something after I was having trouble.  I have an image that is 56x56.  I added 2.25” of a blue color around it to show on the sides of the stretcher bars.  So the image plus the blue border is 60.5x60.5.  I made the custom size 64x64.  That will leave 1.75” on the sides for us to use to stretch the canvas.  The printer stops at 61” leaving 3” of white on the left side.  The blue border on the left side is 1” instead of 2.25”.  I hope this makes sense.  I never had a problem with 60” canvas.  I don’t know why this is happening.  Thanks.

Very clear now thank you.
Is your image centered on your 64” canvas on your print preview?
Did you try from Lightroom? You can put a 1.75 “ border  on both sides in the borders tab and confirm in the preview that it is centered before printing. I also believe PS has a centered  tab. Barring anything else it should work.

If the image + blue border is 60.5 x 60.5 why not leave it at that size and just verify it's centered?  You will naturally get the white 1.75 each side (assuming it is centered properly).  This would work if it is some kind of file/data size issue.  If there are errant borders in the driver or PS somewhere, maybe not.  I typically never add white borders to a print file (if I want them), I just let it print centered then trim to size.

I agree with you. Only suggesting entering a border to see if it helps center it.
Printing out of Lightroom shows a really good preview of what the borders will look like if you need it exactly centered.
PS may show the same thing, I just don't print from it.

I didn’t add white borders.  The preview shows the correct image and the white border around the image is even.  The printer just stops at 61”.  I don’t have Lightroom.  Let me know if you can think of anything else.
We do printing and framing in Philadelphia.  The client found us from the UK.  They wanted a big canvas for a new clothing store they are opening.  They wanted a 60” gallery wrapped canvas.  I told them the maximum would have to be 57” because we have to show the color on the sides of the bars plus we need extra white to grab and pull.  Then we figured we actually can only show 56” in the front.  The stretcher bars are 2” thick.  Now we this printing problem, I would have tell them we can only show 53” on the front.  I am not sure they will like that.  I can ask Epson to help I guess.

sometimes epson limits the size of the print because you need additional software to print larger, hence RIP.

not on the width like this-- it sounds like it's not properly detecting the width of the media on the printer itself

Thanks for all your help.  I actually managed to fix this problem.  I am not sure if what I did was the cure.  All I did was to take the roll of canvas out and press it on the ground so the canvas would be positioned correctly on both ends.  It was only a 1/4" shift.  I tested other files first to see if the printer head can actually travel all the way to the left.  That worked and then I printed the same exact was as before and it worked.
