I can't find off hand the envelope I did the calculations on, but late summer I was looking at the costs of Epson's new 64", Canon 60", take ups, couple of litres of ink per channel (3-4 monthes worth), plus rip, and they both came to itro £20k.
I was slightly shocked that the Epson came with no ink, but the carts are 1000ml, and the cost/sqM was definitely lower. Just the sticker price is slightly misleading. A printer that has 1litre carts Is a production machine (though the Canon with mere bottles (drop per drop as much as Dom Perignon or Johnny Walker Blue Label) with rip and TUR is also for production).
I'm heading towards Dan's setup - a 4600 (with take up reel), and a second user 80600 (inkj is way cheaper) for the big vinyl, Phototex, banner, fabric, poster printing. And with a suitable RIP to drive them both.
I'm in a basement as well, but we started fit out of the new space a couple of years ago, and so factored air handling, both for post covid type business recovery, and for the health of folks in the darkroom and film processing.
