Slobodan, it was very much alive and moving an irritating amount! It's called a dead-leaf mantis because that's just what it looks like. In some individuals, the wings even have small holes, looking more like dried-up leaves. I'm no source of knowledge on their habits, but I assume the camouflage helps both to avoid predators and to catch prey. They won't draw blood with the claws but they can give fingers a fairly painful nip.
