Red River Paper Supplier

Had a damaged 44" roll of Red River Etching 315. Their customer service is always good so I was able to get the roll replaced. However, she mentioned on the phone that red river doesn't make Etching 315, which is standard in the industry, nor do they apply any sort of inkjet coating. They simply get 44" rolls and either resell them or cut them down from these rolls. She wouldn't tell me who their supplier is. Stands to reason that it would cheaper to just buy the paper from their supplier rather than going through them. Does anyone know who supplies it?

Hi, I was going to suggest checking for the profile in Ernst's SpectrumViz database to look for a possible match, but it looks like it doesn't have this paper (or anything else by Red River?).

I wanted to clarify what sounds like incorrect information from our customer support folks. Etching is a product we create through a multi-step process. We choose the base material and then the coating chemistry at our contract coating facility. This is much the same way Epson or Canon would source their products.

The difference with RRP is that we receive jumbo rolls here in Dallas and convert them ourselves to all of the sizes you see on our site. It is true it is similar to other products on the market, though you may not find an exact match.

I think they were just seeing if they could get the exact same paper from the source for less money. But it turns out it's unique to you guys. And the price seems very reasonable compared to Canson and Hahnemuhle etching offerings.
