From the weekend
« on: February 26, 2024, 12:08:59 pm »

Thursday evening I skied out into this recreation area to get some exercise and scope a moonrise location for the following evening.

Friday evening I shot this as an afterthought but liked it better than my planned location. It was a little rushed and not as sharp as I'd like but it's ok for this size.
My tripod leg was on some sagebrush that didn't keep things as stable as I would have liked.

Saturday afternoon I returned to my favorite aspen grove (which also is one of the largest known organisms on Earth). It was kind of a long ski at 6.5 miles, breaking trail much of the way but worthwhile IMO. Light was good and the snow made a nice smooth canvas for these shadows.

I love the last one! also the second is quite nice. As for rookie tripod mistakes when I was in UP I forgot to take the feet metal spikes and the rubber on ice was subpar at best.

Great set with different images. I like #3 and #4 best.
Well done.

Nice set, but indeed the last one has something extra; those undulant shadows are nice.

#3 for me! I like the soft blues in those exquisite shadows.

Thanks! I used my Manfrotto tripod snowshoes for the aspens but forgot them for the Friday evening moonrise unfortunately.

Nice pix, Matt!

Thank you!

Thank you! I feel like the closest tree in that one is giving me a disapproving look, lol.

Thanks! I liked that too.
