Metallic paper update please?
« on: May 19, 2023, 03:22:32 pm »

It seems some printing work requiring metallic paper is coming up for me - new to that.

Did a search through here- thank you all for useful information, but did wonder if there was anything new out there, as there's little discussion here of such media since... 2015/ 2018. - any fresh developments?

Also - is there a gold effect metallic, besides the regular silver one?

The "newest" metallic paper I'm aware of is the Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Metallic:
https://www.itsupplies.com/Hahnemuhle-Photo-Rag-Metallic-340gsm-s/4349.htm

I prefer it to all the others as it gives a unique metallic sparkle to my prints--almost a foil look. If you haven't tried it you might really like it for certain shots.

But for regular metallic papers I still prefer the Breathing Color Vibrance Metallic as looks more metallic than the more pearlescent looking Mitsubishi relabeled papers from Red River, Moab and other sellers.

Thanks, yes I saw that a couple of years back at Photo East. Have a sample here somewhere. Good to be reminded of it tho'

Anything metallic golden/honey hued out there, out of interest?

Not anymore, that I've been able to find. Both Moab and itsupplies used to have some but no longer do. Guess it didn't sell very well. I tried the Moab Silver but didn't like it.
