It was super buggy, yes. Got a notification from a great app called MacUpdater that there was a new version. There is indeed (a beta), Mac only, and now it works again!
On the old site: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/digital-negative.html Mac indicates it is new. Get Info shows it was built June 6th. 1.0.0.49 beta.
