Child maltreatment is the mistreatment and neglect of children under 18. It includes all types of physical and/or emotional maltreatment, sexual abuse, neglect, negligence, and commercial or other exploitation that result in actual or potential harm to a child's health. Intimate partner violence is also sometimes considered a form of child abuse. To help such children in any way, many institutions have opened to provide some kind of support.
