As of today: macOS Catalina: Apple releases 10.15.4 supplemental update.

macOS Catalina 10.15.4 supplemental update improves the stability and security of your Mac.

Fixes an issue where Mac computers running macOS Catalina 10.15.4 could not participate in FaceTime calls with devices running iOS 9.3.6 and earlier or OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 and earlier

Resolves an issue where you may repeatedly receive a password prompt for an Office 365 account

Fixes an issue where MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2020) may hang in Setup Assistant or when disconnecting and reconnecting a 4K or 5K external display

Resolves an issue where a USB-C port in your Mac may become unresponsive

FYI.

"macOS Catalina 10.15.4 was released a few weeks ago - but don't rush to install the update just yet, because multiple users say it creates more problems than it fixes.

Some have found that the hard drive in an updated machine continually spins even when the Mac is supposed to be asleep, which could cause damage; others report system crashes when waking from sleep (involving a kernel panic and reboot to the Apple logo), and problems when copying more than 30GB of data.

Hopefully the bugs are fixed in macOS Catalina 10.15.5, which is currently being beta tested. Affected users can of course also try downgrading to an older version.

MacRumors has asked Apple for a comment, but at time of writing, had received no response. However, the company has pushed out an additional update that does not raise the version number. It is not clear if this update solves the major issues outlined in this article.

The only problem I've had, and it existed in all versions of 10.15 is Time Machine in Apple Mail.

I've seen no issues with 10.15.4 on my 27" iMac or my MBP

I have a 2019 MacBook running Mojave.  Now it is the end of May, is it time to upgrade to Catalina?  I run Microsoft 365,(we have a PC as well), Lightroom Classic and Photoshop.  Most of my files are on external SSD.  I also run Helicon and Ptgui. I may well invest in a pair of Apple noise-cancelling earbuds as I have over 200 albums I like to listen to.

Best wishes,

Jonathan

Jonathan, almost every time Apple does an "upgrade" there's some sort of problem, usually not for everyone but a significant proportion. On Macrumors today there is a story about problems using Carbon Copy Cloner and the newest release, 10.15.5, https://www.macrumors.com/2020/05/28/apfs-bug-catalina-10-15-1-bootable-backups/. I've been using a Mac since April 18, 1984 and been through a lot with them. I'm no expert but have listened to wise voices that tell me to stay at least one OS behind, eg I too am running Mojave. It seems to take 4-6 months to get things straight. I can see no reason to move to Catalina at this time. When one looks at the "features" there's rarely anything critical to my computer use, eg Lightroom, Photoshop, my Epson 3880 printer, the internet, and correspondence. I've never understood why some folks immediately jump on each new release as soon as it's offered. It seems to be asking for trouble, and it's usually difficult or impossible to go back. I'd sit tight, let others be Apple's beta testers.

One specific thing about Catalina: it does NOT run 32 bit apps.

So be sure you do not rely on 32 bit apps before you go from Mojave to Catalina.
In my case i use Media Pro. (RIP)
It is 32 bits and i still like to use it. So Catalina is not for me.

you can check it in the system info / software- old software.
