I obtained a Nikpn Z9 for this purpose among other needs, and I used Davinci Resolve Pro for processing. I can export 8k Tiffs to the file manager and then do photo touch-up in Photoshop. This is not the same, of course as dealing with RAW images, but I only shoot in decent lighting conditions, and the Photoshop adjustments are minor.
What I was doing was recording my two dogs running, playing, romping around, etc. They can move a lot quicker than I can follow with still photography, but it is easy to browse through a video timeline and select the absolute best moment to print. I use high shutter speeds of course, but I also shoot at 60 fps. At 60 fps I can produce a high shutter speed but decent video of the action, if I care to.
I sometimes use the video-to-stills method if I am photographing some action and I cannot predict "what happens next." Unfortunately, I seldom get action dog images these days because they have sort of aged out of the playful years. Young dogs like to play, and old dogs like to be left alone. As an old dog myself (84), I appreciate that point of view.
