Fuji 14mm xf f2.8

Hi folks

I currently have an X-E1 with the kit lens 18-55 - should I get the 14mm - I shoot a lot of landscapes.

But wonder if it's worth the investment?

The fuji 14mm is an outstanding lens, very sharp to the edges and is well worth the money. The only other wider option that is currently available is the Zeiss 12mm but I have heard from a number of sources that it is not as good as the Fuji 14mm optically is larger. There is also a price differential, although it appears there is a limited time price reduction on the Zeiss. I am very happy with my 14mm.

The 14mm is one of the finest wide angle lenses I've ever used. But it really depends on what sort of landscapes you like to shoot -- a very wide angle lens is not required for landscape work. (And I use mine for a lot of people photography.) I'm also  very happy with the lens.

Dunno. I have the 14 and the 35, which cover me for a lot of the sort of photography that I enjoy. The 23/1.4 would be nice, but I'm trying to limit how much kit I carry around when I'm not working Also, I am considering an X100s which would give me that focal length along with a leaf shutter and a built in ND filter (full flash sync outdoors in full daylight at 1/1000 at f/2.)

I do reserve the right to change my mind -- the sample photos from the 23 sure look nice. That and the 56/1.2 would make a great combo for the kind of work I enjoy.

I also have the 14mm and the 35mm.  I pre-ordered the 23mm and I plan on getting the 56mm as well.

Very pleased with the 14mm although I also shoot people, very rarely landscapes.

I have a X100s as well.

If you want a very high quality 21mm equivalent lens, the answer is yes.

I noticed this on the Fuji X forum.  A whole series of pictures from somebody who shot a zombie walk with the 14mm:

I use the 14mm most for indoor shooting in parts of the house where the 35mm is a bit too long.  It is an awesome lens!

Hi Martin,
I recall answering this same question from you on the Photo.net forum and have the same answer. The 14 is an outstanding example of a wide angle lens for the Fuji X system. It's sharp, contrasty, and is pretty immune to flare. I loved it on Photo.net and love it on LULA.

Yes, it does. Personally, I like the output from my Fuji more than that of the D800.

I generally agree with this statement.  I do think the larger sensor can, at times, render an image different than the Fuji, namely with fast lenses.

I like the M9 better than the Fuji, but not by much.  I am waiting for an XPro 2 before getting another Fuji.

Absolutely.  My favorite so far is 6x8 film with a 180mm 3.2.

I like the M9 better than the Fuji, but not by much.

I keep being tempted by the M9. And then I remember how the M6 and I did not work out. I blame it on the rangefinder, the Leica blames it on my lack of skill

I actually just bought the M9.  Have not had the opportunity yet to play much with it but what I have seen up till now I really liked.  Beautiful tones.

I have next week off and I will be out shooting with the Hy6 (6x6 film), the M9, the Fuji X-Pro1 (14, 23 and 35mm) and the X100s.
