New electronic shutters from Rodenstock
« on: August 02, 2011, 09:23:38 pm »

The eShutter. Are these shipping yet? An electronic shutter controllable from an iPhone! Gimme a break.

This app that lets you use an iPhone as a viewfinder, is that for any lens, any digital back? Do they work
with an iPad?

"These are times to save men's souls," paraphrasing the Bard.

AFAIK the Sinar/ Rodenstock eShutters are not shipping yet and the date has been a bit of a moving target for the last few months  :-[

I recently enquired about these shutters with Linhof & Studio (UK).  Their information from Rodenstock is that the eShutters are "not expected before the end of the year".  My interpretation of this was that the end of the year is the best-case scenario, but more likely to be 2012.  Have you tried contacting Rodenstock directly?

Bill,

All the information about this app can be found here:

Alpa eFinder App

It is of course for any back (resp. sensor sizes). Some of the included functions in the Alpa efinder:

★ save pictures with multiple masks and GPS coordinates
★ use original formats as well as overlays with other aspect ratios
★ prepare and use up to 4 different cameras
★ use semi-transparent gray masks for frames just by tapping
★ use autofocus & auto-exposure with iPhone 3GS, 4, iPod touch

Thanks so much, Thierry. That was very helpful.
One more question, slightly off-topic. Will the Alpa lens correction software be updated soon
so that we can perform correction on 16-bit files in CS-5?

Thank you

You are welcome Billy,

As for the Alpa Lens Corrector, it functions currently in 32-bit in all CS versions since CS 3, included CS 5.
We are waiting to see what happens with OSX 10.7 Lion before doing any new update.

Alpa Lens Corrector

Best regards
Thierry
