The sensor is only 36 x 36 in the square mode, while the Hassy is designed for 56 x 56. As sensors get cheaper, Hasselblad may eventually produce a full size sensor for their wonderful V camera system. In the meantime, I'm not selling mine.

And why doesn't a Phase qualify as a worthy back? And are we sure this isn't a Phase? with a few controls moved around?

I just measured the sensor on my p45 and it's identical in size to the Hassy specs.

I'm wishing somebody would make a full 60x60 (I'd settle for 58x58) sensor, but until then, my Phase will do just fine.

Actually the Hassy is 55X55mm. This repeats more or less across the MF gamma. Mamiya 645 is 41.5X56. Mamiya 67 is 56X70 and most 6X9 is only 56X84.

A lower price, higher rez back is welcome, and I have a lot of V system items to use with it; however, I am interested in very sharp landscape pix. I am considering selling and going to another system with new fuji lenses, or even waiting for the new RED system. I would like to look into the best way to compare the resolution of the lenses of my 1990s V system and the newer Hassy, Mamiya, Phase One, and Red lenses.... not direct physical comparisons, but rather info from published articles and reviews.... thanks in advance.

From the spec sheet linked above:

"Sensor size: 39 Mpixels (5412 x 7212 pixels)
Sensor dimensions: 36.7 x 49.0 mm (Lens factor 1.1)
and 36.7 x 36.7 mm (Lens factor 1.5)"

36.7X49mm lens factor 1.1X for this sensor is relative to 41.5X56. And it's not 1.1, it's 1.1 and change.
Lens factor 1.5X of 36.7X36.7mm sensors is relative to 56 square.

Thanks to the OP for posting this information on Hasselblad V System cameras. I've been thinking of selling my system but maybe I'll hang onto it now.
