Hawaii - Big island
« on: May 18, 2009, 11:32:20 pm »

Dear friends,

I am just back from a week vacation in Hawaii's big island during which I took the time to do some shooting. It is a fascinating place for sure with a surprising range of vegetation and weather patterns on a relatively small surface.

Shot with a D3x and RRS pano head for the pano images.

Enjoy,

Cheers,
Bernard

It looks like you had a great trip!  I especially liked the lava and steam cloud photos.  Impressive.
Also, can you tell me where you took the one of the small river surrounded by ferns?  I've stayed on the eastern side of the island several times and have never run into the place.  It looks very pretty.

Must be nice to get out once in a while!  I'm stuck.

I especially like those Mauna Kea shots, great views of Gemini and the CFHT.  That grayish-blue Gemini pano is outstanding!  How did you arrange to be up there at magic hour, I thought it was closed to tourists.

Nice set.  There are some stunning photos there.  I could shoot the lava fields alone for days.  The texture is simply amazing!  I really can't wait to get back over to the Big Island.  Really nice work!
