Topic: Shutter actuations (Read 4072 times)

Not sure how many times this topic has been discussed, but...
I'm trying to find out how many shutter actuations my 1DSMKII has.
I used Photo Mechanic, it tells me one number, then I used CS4, and it tells me another number, completely different numbers and off by quite a bit.
How do I know which one is correct?

None is correct; the recorded number is not reliable, it can be reset. Only the service personal can tell this (I guess by special functions activated by "wire"). One reasonably sounding speculation for the reason is, that the camera makers are supporting the dealers' wish to sell demo models as new.

Do you know how to reset this count? Is it something anyone can do or is this done at the manufacturer level? If not where did you discover that the actuation counter was hackable?

I have always received a reliable number with CanCount.

I used Capture One and until I read this post never had any reason to doubt it... Are you saying that the Capture Counter in Capture One is not accurate?
