I have many MF negatives from years ago plus many 35mm slides / negatives. I read good things about how great a scanner the Epson V750-M is. But many say that a dedicated film scanner such as the Nikon Super Coolscan 9000 is the only solution..
Would I be able to see a significant benefit to go with the Coolscan over the Epson? I won't be doing billboard posters but I do like the "smooth" quality from a larger negative and would like to crop "at will". My largest prints would be in the 20x30 inch size.
Although the cost of the Nikon is almost 3x the cost of the Epson, I worry that if I buy the Epson, I would worry that I wasn't get the most out of the negatives. At the same time, if the results are truly comparable, then saving $1,300 wouldn't hurt
