Interesting article. I want a light package for travel, but need more than a fixed lens compact as I like to be able to photograph wildlife, as well as people, street and cities.
We went to SW India and Sri Lanka in February. Fortunately we flew back to the UK the day before the US went to war with Iran.
My kit was one body plus two lenses and my iPhone 12pro; a Fuji X-E5 and Fuji 16-50 and 70-300 X lenses, all of which fitted in a small Thinktank Mirrorless mover 25L bag. The total weight is 1265g (2.8lbs) plus 2 spare batteries and bag. The X-E5 is like an interchangeable lens X100VI. This gave me coverage from 24-450mm full frame. I have a wrist strap on the camera, so can pull it out of the bag (cross-body) and have it secure on my wrist and know I will not drop it. Most trips were either in cities or towns, or to national parks, so I could pop the appropriate lens on before going. The camera has lots of film simulations, plus room for a custom one, and a lever for changing the image aspect ratio.
I have the Fuji X App on my phone. This has two advantages, once easily paired with the camera. The GPS co-ordinates are automatically added to the meta data and images can be transferred to the iPhone for social media.
In use I set the camera to auto ISO, up to 6400, and then I only have to vary the shutter speed and apperture.
Jane says that watching someone taking photographs is not a spectator sport, but, with this kit, I had no complaints, and now have a Blurb book of memories.
