Photoshop Update(s)

As has been the case since I acquired Photoshop, when I turned on my computer today, I received a notice of updates. I clicked on the dialogue and was taken to the familiar list of suggested updates which included two updates for PS, one V27.1 and just below that, a second PS, V26.11.2.
Thinking I had missed a prior update notice for 26.11.2 and also thinking there was no point in updating that one first then 27.1, I just did an update on 27.1, and carried on using PS. Except for the version number, both updates were for the same Photoshop.
However, now when I turn on the computer, I get another update notice and when I follow the link, it shows the V26.11.2, as yet updated. This occurs every time. Not wanting to see the notice repeatedly, I figured I would just update this version (thinking it would just insert somewhere in the newest V27 or was already included in 27 and the notice would then go away).
Again however, when I tried updating V26.11.2, I received a warning that if I install this version, the auto-upgrade setting would be disabled "to prevent overwriting with a new version in the future". And I don't even know what this means exactly....
To make things even more confusing, I checked the current version of PS and it shows V26.11.1, not 27.
I am obviously missing something here and ask for advice/suggestions.

The latest (non beta) is Adobe Photoshop Version: 27.1.0. You may have more than one version installed so you can use the Uninstaller and install again.

Thanks for the reply. I should have made clear in my initial post, I ensured I only have a single version installed. I built this computer a year ago and subscribed to a single PS (on a yearly fee). Since that time, I have only ever received update notices for a single PS (although with Lightroom etc often included in the same update notice).

And even if I did have two versions installed, why would the version update offered (in the same notice) be different for each. One would think they would be the same and most recent.

The only thing different over the last year is I recently received an e-mail from Adobe advising my year subscription is close to its end and to expect an auto renewal, which is a couple weeks away.

Anyway, would uninstalling/re-installing PS likely solve this issue? And I presume that would not affect the renewal?

Marv, like Andrew implied, v26.0 and v27.0 are two yearly "major" Photoshop versions. They can be installed side by side, and intermittent "minor" updates like the ones you listed will only update the version with same major number. Most probably what happened here is that when you originally upgraded to version 27, version 26 was deleted (either intentionally or unintentionally) and now you only see version 27 show up as installed. This has happened to me before, and I only realized it when Adobe Creative Cloud said that it had updates for both versions ready to install. It is still seeing a part of the old version 26 that was not completely removed.

As Andrew suggested, the easiest solution is to use the Uninstaller in the Creative Cloud app, which may allow removal of just v26 and leave v27. If it only shows v27, go ahead and uninstall it and then reinstall the latest version 27.1. Afterwards Creative Cloud should stop bugging you to install updates to a no-longer-completely-present version 26.

Marv's post reminds me of the repeated notices to update what is already updated, in this case, the beta (27.2). Today I got perhaps the third notice for this same version.

Maybe there's some under-the-hood change not reflected in the version number? But that would be odd. I update it each time...
