Recently my Epson P5000 stalled after printing only an inch or two. The software and the printer itself say that it is printing but the head is not moving.
Looking at the error log the message was "Unable to write print data: broken pipe."
I called Epson Support who told me that this meant that a physical pipe bringing ink to the printhead had broken and needed to be replaced. Curiously after refusing to print some 7 or 8 prints, the printer went through several lengthy automatic cleaning cycles and now seems to be printing normally again.
Anyone had any experience with this error message? Could it have corrected itself after the cleaning cycles?
It is not worth repairing since Epson's estimate for repair is £1,400 - which is pretty much the same price as a new P5300 (albeit without VAT).
