LR changes the calibration profile and process after enhancing or re-importing

A new surprise from LR;

I had made my own calibration profile and set the process to 2 ( 6 is most recent) because it is better for reproduction.

What happens after enhancing getting a DNG?  ; the profile is turned back to adobe color and the process is set back to 6.

What happens after re-importing the RAW-file with xmp information about developing;   the profile is turned back to adobe color and the process is set back to 6.

A lot of repro work done in photoshop can be put in the trash.

Enhance and PV2 do not, cannot coexist. You can have PV6 + Enhance, you can't have PV2 + Enhance.

After Enhance (Denoise?) with V6 can you switch the resulting DNG to V2?  Seems to work on one of my DNGs.  I have no custom profiles to test though.

well I have learned... 

yes-   i think i can enhance and then check the V2 process and the custom profile.

However, if i then go back to V6 again and choose the previous profile the colors are not like the original ones...

I am confused since this is all about the right colors. LR is a black box - don't know what happens inside.


Does anyone know if enhance better detail changes the colors?

You don't mention what you're doing in Enahnce, but if it is Denoise then of course Denoise does both luminance and colour denoising.  So with starting colours being different (V6 vs V2) then you would expect it to be different.

By how much though?  And can you (easily?) modify the DNG after the switch to V2 to give you want you need?  Can you post before/after examples?  (V2 raw vs V2 DNG)

I would imagine this would be different from image to image as well (depending say on saturation, and noise levels).

Am working at 64 asa with repro-work so no noise reduction is needed but better detail is welcome... 
At the moment i am so busy with work taht i don't have time to re-examine everything ...
I will come back to this within two weeks  in a more relaxed period.  Have now 4 hours of work to redo ...

To be expected when altering any PV version. There's nothing you can do to 'automatically' make them match. You could try making a preset to apply to the PV after it updates that 'better' matches the other PV.

I just did a little test and the result is:

I can use NEF and mix it with NEFX (4 multiple images combined to get rid of the bayer-pattern - better colour and no moiré)  - result: no visible colorshift.

as mentioned:

If i use a dedicated colorprofile and use process 2 ( to get more true white values whites)   and then decide to enhance detail - the result is :
A DNG with process 6 and Adobe color profile.

However if i then change the process back to 2 and choose my dedicated profile again the colors are unchanged.

- so the only problem is : adobe just changes your values without any notice.

but now i know.
