I was envious on Matt's frosty cottonwoods but literally the next day I got a little present; part of this might have been the snow making machines running through the night but I'll take it regardless.

I'm posting a couple where I think the color version is equally appealing and one with some color in the leaves. The last one I think it works better in b&w but you can see for yourself

Both sets are wonderful. With the second set, I especially like the one with golden leaves. Gold and frost white go well together.

I have to say, having seen them, I prefer the color versions. Preferences are preferences, however, and horses aren't wishes. With regard to the last one, I like the subtle color, nearly monotone in the trunks. It draws me in and causes me to move in and out between them and the snow white branches. I like your (semi) abstract/detail shots.

Alas real winters are getting quite mellow. I was alluding on Slobodan's Lofoten photos that the ice/snow seems scarce for this period of the year. I'm now in Michigan Upper Peninsula to see some frozen falls and ice caves; some are on an island nearby and it was said that by the second half of February is relatively save to cross over the ice. Just one problem, currently there's no ice whatsoever on the lake.

I wouldn't have tried unless it was way below freezing for a while, a solid looking cover of ice and most importantly, seeing multiple people go over without issues. But as I said, there is literally no ice over the entire lake and barely any on the shore. So far I only crossed with the ferry, will try with my kayak in the summer, it's less than half a mile away.
