My ex-wife recently persuaded me to buy a new car because the old one was costing more and more to service. She accompanied me to the car sales place. She's very good at bargaining.
When the chosen new car arrived, ready to drive away, registration included, I was amazed at the number plate, which consisted of 3 numbers followed by 3 letters. The 3 numbers represented the month and year of my birth, and the 3 letters are XYY.
In other words, X (wife) Why? Why?Since the sales lady we'd been dealing with knew my partner was my ex-wife, and also knew my birth date, I assumed someone had deliberately chosen this sequence of numbers and letters to create a joke. However, when I looked at the other new cars in the yard, ready for collection, they all had XYY on the number plate, and the numbers were very close to my birth date, so it was probably pure coincidence that I have a registration number that is so easy to remember in my old age, and which didn't have any additional cost.
