Can't import images from camera

Hi All,
Recently installed newest version of PS and Bridge along with latest version of Mac (10.11.4).
Now when I attach camera to computer it does not recognize it. I tried a Canon G10 and it took it into Apples photo program and not into Bridge.
(Only want to import into Bridge.)
Also when I tried to download Sigma Foveon files, which have always worked before, it does nothing.
Tried Adobe Help with no success.
I'm stuck !
Any suggestions are gratefully accepted.

You should be able to change the default application that opens to receive imports from cameras using application preferences.

Instead of trying to download directly from the camera to Bridge, save the photos to folders on your hard drive, then open Bridge and access them from those folders through Bridge; see whether this works.

Mac Photos can be very annoying for photographers.  If you'd like to stop it from opening every time you attach a device with photos here are the tricks.
