BenQ SW240?
« on: December 27, 2019, 01:35:14 am »

I need a decent hobbyist, graphics quality monitor, and after doing some due diligence, a BenQ SW240 bubbles up as a potential candidate.

Is this monitor a good choice?  If indeed I purchased this monitor, what do I need to be aware of?  For example, color managing this monitor?

I bought one of these as my travel monitor that I lash up to my laptop when doing initial editing on the road.  Great little monitor, IMO.  BenQ’s calibration/profiling software worked fine.  For a smallish, very reasonably priced monitor, I think it’s VERY nice, and for the price it’s pretty hard to beat.  I bought a strap-on case for it and it travels well.

My home workstation uses NEC PA 302 so I’m used to looking at a good quality, properly profiled monitor.

I have a BenQ sw2700pt and I like it very much and as said before for the price it very hard to,beat! I did have a issue this fall with the calibration software? I’ve had the monitor a couple years and never had a problem calibrating until this fall? They came out with an update I loaded it and it works fine now. I WOULD by another .

Thanks for the replies.  B&H currently has the SW240 on sale at about $385, so as mentioned, that's hard to beat.  There was some mention in a review that it's an 8-bit machine.  But even then, it's what I can currently afford.

Again thanks.

Purchased the BenQ SW240 today from B&H.  $385, and that included shipping, a $100 visor, and a manufacturer's, 3 year warranty.  It'll arrive on Thursday, Jan. 2nd.   Customer Support commented that BenQ is one of the few companies that makes their own screen.  Most other companies outsource them.

With the pre New Year's sale that B&H is offering, I thought about the 270.  But, this one is plenty large.
