Title: A few a7r shots
Post by: robdickinson on March 24, 2015, 08:43:40 pm
Dont often pop in here, been using my a7r more because my 6d got a little destroyed... (now replaced) I prefer the canon for astro by a long way but getting better at playing with the sony files.

Wow!  These are great Rob!!  Could you tell us some of the details of the capture of these?  I would love to be able to take such great astro-landscapes!

Most are shot with an a7r, with a canon 24mm tsemk2 at f3.5, iso 6400, 25 seconds each frame, some are up to 40 frames (over 3 rows) panoramics.

ACR to tiff, then stitched in PT gui, and processed in photoshop.

These are wonderful.

Thanks for sharing the method. Could you also elaborate on your preference for the 6D for astro, over the A7R?

The only name I recognize there is Christchurch, but that's enough to identify New Zealand.  Thanks for the details.

Good reason alone to go to New Zealand! ( i am just about on the other side of the globe- Amsterdam...no starscape like that here)
I like best Edge of Infinity- where nature and mankind have the right proportions. ( is that you?)

Thanks, yes its me, 14 frame pano at 24mm (portrait) with a manual pano head. Took some running around! (with a giga t pro 2 wireless remote)

Thanks, no focus blending on these. Mostly my astro doesnt feature really close foregrounds, if it does I do stack.
