Post by: orc73 on March 24, 2015, 10:44:56 am
any advice on this? the front barel is loose, the lense and focus is fully functional.

The Hasselblad distributor would send it to the factory, alone shipping would cost a few hundred Euros.

For what it's worth, my advice is to get it repaired ;)  It's clearly not working as designed and it looks like that lens has taken a bit of a beating so it is probably best to get everything put back to the way it is supposed to work.  It won't be cheap though!

Depending on the actuation number, I'd be selling it as faulty and buying used elsewhere.

If you do send it in, get an estimate only before proceeding. I sent a lens into Hasselblad, they quoted £700 to fix but it had to go to Europe, when it got there they went ahead and did further unauthorised work on it (they found more things wrong with it) which added another £600 to the bill. A used replacement lens would of been £100 cheaper.

In Hasselblad's defense I complained and they honoured the original quote but even on used items you are still paying 'new' prices for repairs and often it isn't going to be cost effective to send it in.

Yet, it could be a simple fix.

I was told that the Hasselblad HC lenses have bearings inside that wear off. Just like the tyres of a car. So I would not expect it to be an expensive repair.

Please let us know how you got along.

Best,

Bernd

I don't think an inexpensive Hasselblad repair exists ;)

No, not bashing at all, just joking around.  I don't think there is a cheap Phase repair either :D
