Is anyone successfully running HP Utility on Win8? I am trying to use ver 1.17.0.3 so what version are you using?
-
We have a Z3200ps and had a number of problems with the Utility. About a week ago I deleted all the drivers and the Utility and downloaded and installed fresh copies from the HP site.
While doing so I noticed in fine print on the download page that the HP Utility is NOT compatible with Win8.1 when used with USB.
I switched to an Ethernet connection and all appears fine now except a minor annoyance on cost accounting for paper. No big deal for us.
No idea when/if HP ever plans to update their software. They seem to be at least paying attention to some things as they updated the firmware last year for the BASH (what ever that is...) exploits rampant.
It does make beautiful prints.
Good luck

what type of Ethernet cable are you using? Is it a crossover cable?
-
The PC is WIFI to the router and the printer is standard Ethernet cable to the router.
Didn't try to get tricky with crossover stuff although I suppose it's possible. Too much on my plate to try.
If you do try it and it works let us know and what was required.
good luck

Using Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit on a VMWare virtual machine on a Mac Pro Tower -
Standard ethernet cable to router. Standard cable to printer.
Running perfectly -
Prefer it to running on my Mac - thought I'd never say anything like that.

Hi,
no problems here.
Windows 8.1 x64 and Z3200, the printer is connected wireless by using an TP-Link Nano Router in Client Mode (TP Link TL-WR702N), nice piece of hardware, cheap, fast and reliable.

thanks for the tips. I think I will try that nano router.

The installed version is 1.17.0.3
But it should work with a cable, have you checked your firewall?
-
I too have it setup with eithernet on Win7. But I think maybe soon I want to upgrade to Win8 .
BUT what if I have a RIP that requires a USB dongle?
-
Hi,
I am trying to connect my Z3100 with a TP-Link but am not having any luck. I went to the control panel on my 3100 and under Setup there is no option to Restore Network Defaults. Is wireless even an option on the Z3100?

Mike, Wireless is not an option. You have to plug in an ethernet cable!
-
Hi,
Is it an option for the 3200?
-
cat 5e or cat6 Ethernet cable?
-
Hi Mike,
cat 5 or 6 should not make any difference, i use cat5e cables in my 1GBit Network.
Tell me more about your network, which router, ip configuration?
My Router is 192.168.178.1, the TP-Link Nano Router in client mode is connected to the router at adress 192.168.178.31.
The Z3200 is connected to the Nano Router, take a look at the screenshot of the network config from my Z3200, the ip adress is 192.168.178.50
This settings works fine, look at the screenshots, i hope it helps you.
