Love the Osprey.  Nice shot Chris, keep em coming, always enjoy these.

Good pose Chris.
 The stare of the eyes are what your title suggests, and it looks like your focus point was off a little, or you have front focus and the eyes  and feathers around them are slightly OOF and soft.
a suggestion,
You can easily remedy that with the adjustment brush in LR or ACR by adding sharpness and a little clarity...make a big difference ;-)
