At Red Rock Canyon in the Mojave Desert, California. More in my blog post (http://blog.parrikar.com/2015/01/22/red-pillars/).

Very nice as usual, Rajan.
However, the link to the blog isn't quite right. It takes me to the blog, but not to the "Red Pillars" post, but the page it takes me to does have a list of the recent posts, so it just takes one more click to get to the blog post.
This is one spot I haven't been to (yet), but quite a find!

P.S. I found i: Your link contains ".../01/23/..." which should be ".../01/22/..."

Eric,
Thank you for pointing it out. I just fixed the link.
Re. the Red Rocks location - It is a beautiful area. Most people are in a hurry to get to their real destination - Death Valley - and so this is usually given a pass. I almost always prefer to spend the night in Ridgecrest on my way to and from DeVa and Red Rock is only a 25 mins drive from there.
