Title: Cambo Wide DS to Canon EOS
Post by: BobShaw on January 05, 2015, 02:49:07 am
Hi,
I have a Cambo Wide DS that I want to connect to a Canon Tse 24mm that I have.
A hasselblad H3D 31 back will be used.
Is anyone aware of a way to do this using a Copal shutter or similar?
Thanks.

You need a focal plane shutter and a way to set the aperture in the lens.

Without that there's only real ugly hacks, like setting the aperture on the canon to what you like with the lens on, hold the dof preview button (so the aperture is set on the lens), and while holding it remove the battery from the camera. The lens is now set at your desired aperture.

The next problem is that you don't have a shutter. Then you can do it in the 1800's way, it have really really slow film an expose by removing the lens cap, and end it by putting it back on. This you can simulate with a strong ND filter (10 stop?). Then shoot with the Hasselblad back in pinhole mode. With this procedure you should be able to make an image with the lens without shutter or aprture control but as you see it's not very practical.

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in responding. I have been away on holidays without proper Internet.

Thanks for the responses, but they don't really solve the problem.

I already have a Cambo Wide DS, which is a very expensive and widely used architecture camera. I am therefore not going to buy an Alpa or some other camera costing $6000. I also have the Hasselblad H back to go with it so I am not going to buy a V back.

The attachment to electronically operate the 24TSE is OK , but it is still $600 and is designed to provide a 4/3 attachment. I need something that covers a medium format image circle.

The only practical solution I see involves a Copal shutter to provide the shutter and aperture.

All I want a physical way to connect a Canon EF lens to a Copal shutter.

If you know that this won't work because of other issues then that would be useful also. Thanks.
