With all the new models listed on the NEC web site it's not clear to me if the PA272W-BK-SV is being discontinued. Anyone have any idea ?
Is it still a good solution ?
Is I buy one do I want the hood for it ?
I did search and read some threads. Any information would be appreciated.

I would say the hood is very useful, I have it and like it.
Sorry but I have no insight whether it is being discontinued.

The PA272W is very much NOT being discontinued. It's one of our most popular models.

Thank you Will. I appreciate the information. I just received mine today and look forward to using it.

I have a six year old NEC 2690WUXI with the Gretag Eye One Display 2 puck and SpectraView II app that I purchased as the NEC package. It has been a great monitor with nearly 11,000 hours of use, still calibrates well, but is starting to deteriorate with a diffuse dark band running across the central third of the screen. I'm thinking of replacing it with the PA272W-BK.
Will my current puck and software successfully calibrate the new monitor, or do I need to re-acquire their current SV package?
thanks
Brad

Yes you can use the existing software license and sensor. It won't be quite as accurate as the iOneDisplayPro / NEC MDSVSENSOR3, but will get the job done.

Will,
Thank you for the info. Kudos to NEC for whatever effort it took to maintain the compatibility. And thank you for your presence here on Lula.
It speaks well of NEC and their commitment to support.
