Title: Grayscale conversion
Post by: Jeff-Grant on November 05, 2014, 06:00:52 pm
I'm just experimenting with QTR. So far I have found that my image needs to be converted to grayscale with a Gamma of 2.2. I use ProPhoto with a Gamma of 1.8 for my editing so I'm wondering what the correct way to get to grayscale 2.2 is. Do I convert to ARGB, and then mode or do I set my colour settings to Grey Gamma 2.2 and then mode. I would hate to start off doing it the wrong way.

IF you convert using a 2.2 Grayscale setting that’s the resulting Curve and as no worries converting directly from ProPhoto 1.8 to 2.2 gray,

Great, thanks Andrew. So I just make my colour settings Gray 2.2 and continue working with ProPhoto and use mode to convert. That's easy.

I freely admit I'm not 100% positive what Andrew meant, but I AM sure that what I thought he meant was the opposite of what YOU thought he meant.  :-\
