Lousy thumbnail.(Don't know why.)
Click on foto for decent image.
Thanks.

I never expect much from a thumbnail anyway.
But the larger image is stunning!

A nice range of tones especially the blacks which gives it a gloomy, tense feel. Wouldn't want to fall in.

Lovely shot.
Not sure the square format suits the image.
Suggested crop of 25% of top and bottom.

You would then lose those nice sky blues which - imo - adds a sense of contrast to the greens and darker tones?

The lighting is superb (almost feels studio-lit, in a good sense).

This scene showed up just as I was returning to my car and knew nite time was coming up soon. Almost kept paddling. (Later on seeing the monitor I'm glad of course, I stopped.)
About the cropping suggestion, it's an interesting one to me because I'm always looking at what to keep in so there's enough context and what to take out that's not relevant enough. I guess in a way it's the never-ending tension between context and abstraction.
Thank you all for checking this out.

Very cool location and presentation, however, my eye keeps wandering around looking for something to "land on".

Luxborealis,
Very interesting observation- as all of yours are.Thank you.
Occurred to me also as I was working on it.  I try to make fotos that bring the viewer into the scene. But this one looks best when I sit back and look at it as a whole. Is this a beautiful image with no point to it ? Or something else, like a flower shown in macro ? I can't quite tell.

Lush image, I like the blue in there too.
You took this from a kayak? f/8? I am impressed that there is no motion blur. Then again, I have been in a kayak exactly once, and I was too busy learning to operate the thing to notice what it felt like sitting still.

Nancy,

Glad you like the blue.

It is a challenge sometimes to keep the little boat still. Usually I try to find something solid like a tree trunk to rest it against.
Kayaks's are a very efficient form of transportation. Kind of the bicycle of the boat world.
