Title: Capture One 8 sharpening "equivalence"
Post by: Alun on October 08, 2014, 10:26:56 am
I'm finally happy to move to Capture One 8 as my main raw converter as it seems a very stable and quick program now (after the dog that was C1 7)

I have the defaults set in Lightroom/ACR as follows for my Sony A6000:-

Amount - 50
Radius - 0.8 (I shoot landscapes mainly)
Detail - 60
Masking - 10

How do these relate to the C1 8 numbers?

Thanks in advance

Hi Alun,

Besides the radius parameter, they don't relate.

Capture One requires different settings depending on the camera used, and the lens quality and settings require different settings. Assuming you are Capture sharpening, the radius also varies with aperture used. You can also adjust for sharpness fall-off, and add local sharpening layer(s) with different settings (and masks) than the generic settings.

Cheers,
Bart
