Color or B/W? Yes, the camera was horizontal ;) These California Live Oaks are magnificent creatures.

I'd say B&W as well.

There is a web site with exquisite photography, 1x.com, that at some point published their own index imagorum prohibitorum, i.e., a list of images they do not want to see submitted anymore. Lone trees was on the list. Just saying. ;)

I'd probably prefer the B&W if it weren't for the toning, David. On the other hand, the color version brings out the interesting clouds. It's a toss up.

Guess I will have to be excused for ignorance and choosing the wrong title ;)

Actually, I personally love lone trees.

In the OP case, I wish there is more negative space - i.e., that is the thing that makes it lonely. Otherwise, we'll have to take your word for it  ;)

Yeah Slobodan, I thought about that when I framed it and because I have other subjects (trees) from further back I decide to go tighter with the shadows and light patterns in the grass. I even thought about cropping this one closer (just because), but I was afraid Russ would give me sh!t :) As far as the imagorum prohibitorum goes, it's fun to break the rules! When 1x.com starts letting me post there, I might consider abiding by their dictum(s) ;)
