lake heron, Ashburton Lakes.
I'd travelled out here (2 hours from Christchurch) with a few friends to shoot some astro. I'm not normally a big shooter of clear blue sky scenes but this one was looking too good at sunset to ignore.
6d and 16-35f4L IS, Lee big stopper, 3 stop grad and a circ polariser, ISO 400 to cut down exposure time to 201 seconds.

Really nice! I like the contrast between the fore- and backgrounds.

+1.

Wow. This is the best image I have seen on here for a long time. Absolutely nothing to criticise. Well done.

Thanks stamper!

Fantastic complementary colors, and so peaceful.

Got to agree. This is a fine shot. I have been back for a couple of looks and IMO I would like to see a more subtle vignette. When I had my first look on my tablet, the vignette was the first thing I saw. It's better on the large screen but ... My my how picky can we get. :D Nice work.

The vignette is 'natural' - caused by me loading up on filters and using my too thick 105mm circ polariser. $29.90 from ebay ....
I need a thin one but they are many $

Perfect.

Wonderful foreground

I'm a big fan of rocks in water images and shoot them every chance I get. This shot is perfect. I even like the vignette. Well done.
-
Very nice. My first reaction was that the log should be just a bit lower in the frame. Regardless, stunning detail, color, and control in the image. Be proud!

Wow! Green, Orange, Blue. I like the way the pebbles recede into the green.

'Tis a beaut. 'Nuff said.

Nicely done.

I'm curious if you think there might have been any way to make this shot with the snow not being over exposed at the tip of the mountains. Not a critique really, it's a fantastic photo, more a technique question. Was there a grad filter on this?
-
Two grad filters. The foreground really was a lot darker. Even then I have pushed it! Only the absolute tips are blown.

Great shot robdickinson. Great to see a fellow Arsian here!
