Hi-
Any tips or tricks for fixing a dent on self-adhesive foam board with photo already mounted? 3/16 board, no glass to hide behind.

In my imagination: Very little transparant polyurethane (expanding) wood glue injected with a syringe at the back of the spot, the print surface down on a very plane (glass) table. A smaller glass plate rubbed in with silicone on top of the injection spot + a gallon jar on top for weight. Patience till the urethane is fully cured by the humidity in the air otherwise you get another problem. Never done it so no warranty. You can still throw the print in the waste basket which may be the better solution right away.

As with the above reply - Never done it so no warranty. This is just a thought.
Carefully remove all the back paper and foam and remount.
Sketchy idea at best, but might be worth a shot.

Another option is to remove the print from foamboard with help of hairdryer. If it is a matte paper there is less risk to ruin it. In case of microporous paper you need to be very careful not to keep the air flow too long on one area. Otherwise the print will crack. It needs to be done gently with care, patience and time. Later you can re-mount it on to new board.

never found anything that works, unless it is removable mount (some pre coated foam boards can be reheated and print removed.). But pretty much print a new one and mount most of the time.
That’s why I prefer a nice well made mount board instead of the foam core.

I will probably experiment with fixing, then give up and reprint. Mine to destroy.

If it's on the verge of being tossed, try removing the back side paper and foam core behind the dent. Take your time with a razor blade or some other scraping tool. Get down to the foam cores paper on the front. Then maybe try some expanding foam like Great stuff under some wax paper between two sheets of glass and lots of weight. Experiment on a similar hole for a test to see how much foam you need. Might be worth a try.

Could you post a picture of the dent? Make sure to include something on the picture to show size, like a coin or a ruler.
What board did you mount the print to? Gatorboard?

Unless there's something standing in your way of reprinting, that would far and away seem the best option. These other methods seem like going around the world to get to your back door; do-able, but certainly not the best way.
