Title: Storm over Lake Powell
Post by: sierraman on May 17, 2014, 07:01:42 pm
I don't usually shoot B&W images so I'm not sure how this looks to those of you who normally do. Does the image have enough/too much contrast? Maybe its just not a good image.

I'm not a B&W specialist but I'd like to see a bit more contrast in the mid-tones and the white in the clouds could be a little lighter.
That said, if you're happy with your shot, keep it as it is.

Di you take it from the promontory over Wahweap Marina?

I guess I need to work on my B&W post processing. Yes it was taken from the promontory above the marina. Super windy that evening, thought we were going to get blown off the hill down to the marina.  :)

I agree with Francois' suggestions, but don't overdo it. This is a wonderful image, worth reworking until it really sings.

I've tried something that looks different (better or worse?).

Yes, that promontory can be really windy and dusty but easily accessible place with a good vista.

I would go with your suggestions, I'm just a amateur with B&W.
 ;)
