Ok, there's a thread telling me that the 9900 is a female dog to move around and set up. Is the 7900 as bad?

Just about. Not as wide due to the 24 inches but still very heavy wide and requires at least 3 people to safely pickup. The issue on both 99 and 79 is bottom is smooth no hand grip like on the older 98xx style. Recommend gloves to help hold it.

It's a bear, to be sure. They recommend 4 people to get it out of the packing case and onto the stand. I called a moving company and they sent 2 guys with muscles on top of their muscles and they did it ok, but no stairs were involved. Once it's on the stand the rest of setup is easy.

We had to take our 7900 down a set of stairs that was too narrow to allow a person on each side. That meant one person on each end. With one really strong friend on the lower end it went down one step at a time. The "normal" guy on the upper end could very briefly set the thing down on each step before hefting it to the next, but the other guy had to hold it up continuously, which was definitely not easy. There are 4 hand grips molded into the bottom of the printer, but those are useless if you can't have 2 people on each side as Epson recommends. Our path was a straight shot from outside and down a set of stairs into a large area, so the stairs were the only issue. A tight corner would be pretty bad.
